I've been wearing belts sideways lately. Unlooped, regular belts. The latchy part over my left hip, instead of in front. Generally medium-wide or two-stranded belts.
Thoughts? Are the fashion police coming? Is this a crime?

Tue, November 29, 2005 - 2:17 PMI think if you've got the necessities to pull it off then its golden.
I've recently stopped wearing belts. I've been rockin the unshaven, no belt, shirt-tucked, with a sport-coat look lately. Its soooo comfortable. -

Re: Belts - sideways
Wed, November 30, 2005 - 1:26 PMi've been sporting to the side for a while, and was trying to figure out what the look was that i really wanted when i saw a hipster teen sporting it in the back. seems a little high maintenance (see: bathroom) but i liked the seamlessness of it.

Re: Belts - sideways
Wed, November 30, 2005 - 2:19 PMI almost excusively wear my belts sideways, except if the buckle is somewhat unwieldy for wearing in such a manner. I am a big fan of asymmetry in general though.
Definitely NOT a crime. Wearing your baseball hat kicked to the side a la K.Fed, on the other hand... -

Re: Belts - sideways
Wed, November 30, 2005 - 2:28 PMIs there a right way to wear a baseball cap? Perhaps that's just my prejudice.
That being said, thank heavens some wear them. Makes distinguishing the "not my types" from a distance much easier. I spy with my little eye a frat boy at 20 paces.... :) -

Re: Belts - sideways
Wed, November 30, 2005 - 2:49 PMI'm of the opinion that baseball caps should be worn for function. Ie. sun-shading.

Re: Belts - sideways
Wed, November 30, 2005 - 4:18 PMVery true! There is also the type of guy who only wears baseball hats because it makes him look like he might possibly hot because you can't really tell. Then he takes off his hat one day and poof! the mystery is gone. Definitely not hot. And he has hat head. -

Re: Belts - sideways
Wed, November 30, 2005 - 4:25 PMSean: no objection to cap for function. But, if for function, must guys choose one just one type of hat. It's the flock of sheep thing that gets me, more than the hat. If a rice paddy hat were thrown in the mix, just occasionally... -

Re: Belts - sideways
Wed, November 30, 2005 - 8:34 PMI hear you... I almost picked up this hat a few weeks ago:
www.neimanmarcus.com:80/store/...d.jhtml
A tribe friend suggested that I avoid it at all costs, saying the hat looks like just-f*cked-roadkill.

Re: Belts - sideways
Wed, November 30, 2005 - 8:53 PMOops. I have one very similar (identical) that I bought in Montreal. A dubious purchase, indeed.
However, the entirely black version I have (less of a roadkill look) is in active rotation. I call it "Lamby"... -
