How low do you go? In professional offices, how lazy do you get? And, do you think there's a line?

Re: "business casual"
Mon, December 19, 2005 - 12:01 PMI am in a very tolerant environment - university professor.
In the summer time I'm quite casual. Ie., sometimes I even rock the old "Never mind the bollocks" Sex Pistols t-shirt.
During the semesters though, I'm more sharp/well-dressed. Its my personal style though.
Is there a line? During the semester, I don't wear anything that will cause a distraction in the class room. In my 2nd year, I had a student who cast her gaze, in a singular fashion, solely on my groin-area. I realized that those pants were not for work.

Re: "business casual"
Mon, December 19, 2005 - 12:25 PMMy rules:
1. No shorts
2. Nothing that shows any of my tattoos
3. No Burning Man clothes...except outerwear...b/c faux fur can be really cozy in winter
If I have meetings (60% of the time), I'm in a suit. The other days, I'm holed up in my own office and the only person who really sees me is my assistant - or secretaries peeking up from cubes if I go to the fax machine. Seriously, I'm having trouble caring how I look at work...at all. Today finds our hero in glasses, a hoodie, jeans, striped socks, hair buns, and clogs. Oh yeah - that's the look my boss is hoping for. Oy veh.
Anyone else find their inner fashion stunted slob-child appearing in the office lately?
